20130127 Great Blue Heron Winter Tracks
Observing the winter tracks of a Great Blue Heron is very uncommon. Here are my first photos of these winter tracks. They are unmistakable due to their large size. Wild Turkey tracks typically range from 4-5 inches long and their rear-pointing toe is shorter. The tracks shown in these photos were close to 7 inches long, which is within the typical range of 6-8 inches for Great Blue Heron. It is a wonder that this bird is surviving the cold weather experienced during the past couple of weeks.
