20130502 American Toad Explosive Breeding
Photos of peak activity during explosive breeding involving American Toad. During this late afternoon session I observed 20 male-female pairs in amplexus where the male clasps its feet around the female and is positioned on the female's back. Several of the photos show egg strings being deposited by the females. There were also several toad balls involving a female and several males. There was further follow-up during the evening with additional photos in the next album.
