20150404 Star-nosed Mole Tunnels
Tunnels most likely created by Star-nosed Mole were found in damp muddy area near lakefront. This muddy area would normally be submerged but a drop in water level exposed the mud during late fall until spring. It would appear the Mole dug these tunnels in early winter when the ground at this location was not frozen yet had snow cover. Some of the mud is piled in eskers that would have been formed in the snow.
