20160305 PFN Tracking
Seven members and guests from the Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) went tracking on the John de Pencier trail at Trent University Nature Area. Species identified by tracks or sign included Snowshoe Hare, American Mink, Red Squirrel, Porcupine, Mouse sp, Shrew sp, Domestic Cat, Northern Short-tailed Shrew, Beaver and Ruffed Grouse. Various tracks from small birds were thought to be from Dark-eyed Junco and American Goldfinch. Birds indentified by sound included Black-capped Chickadee, Hairy Woodpecker, American Robin, Canada Goose and Ring-billed Gull.
