20160505 Common Snapping Turtle
This hatchling Common Snapping Turtle was found migrating across our lawn on its way to the lake. We picked it up, grabbed a quick photo, and laid it on some mud near the water. We also scared away some Common Grackles that may have presented a risk to the hatchling. This individual would have been laid in the ground during the spring of 2015 and then overwintered before hatching.
