20160815 American Toad
An American Toad was found in a shallow depression in the lawn. It was initially mistaken for a pine cone - we were picking them up from the lawn in advance of grass cutting. Luckily its true identity was determined before we picked it up! The depression appears to have been made by the Toad. The first three photos were taken in the evening while the final two were taken near darkness and required the flash. Notice that the Toad is now out of its depression and ready to catch insects. The Toad remained in this same depression for another day despite rainshowers, but disappeared after that.
