20171001 PFN Ballyduff Trails
The Sunday morning wildlife walk for the Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) took place at the Ballyduff Trails and Fleetwood Creek Natural Area. Ten PFN members were treated with beautiful fall weather. The bird list included 19 species: Canada Goose, Ruffed Grouse, Turkey Vulture, Mourning Dove, Downy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Blue Jay, American Crow, Black-capped Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, White-breasted Nuthatch, wren sp., Golden-crowned Kinglet, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, American Robin, Yellow-rumped Warbler, White-crowned Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Song Sparrow, American Goldfinch. Significant observations icnluded a large flock of 200+ American Crows and numerous migrating Kinglet sp. Mammal species observed included Red Squirrel and Eastern Gray Squirrel. Tracks and sign were observed for Raccoon, Coyote, White-tailed Deer, Red Squirrel and Eastern Chipmunk.
