20190104 PFN Tracking
Two successive days of tracking took place with three Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) members scouting on Friday and 9 PFN members checking the same locations on Saturday. We walked the John DePencier trail and around the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre. On both days we observed tracks for Coyote, Red Fox, Red Squirrel, Eastern Gray Squirrel, Shrew sp, Mouse sp and Porcupine. On Friday the additional species was White-tailed Deer, while on Saturday it was Eastern Cottontail. There was a controversial trail that looked like Fisher, but on Saturday we also found Raccoon tracks and trails nearby. The two species can make similar trails and tracks especially in their alternating walking trails.
