20190512 PFN Cavan Birding
Scott McKinlay led a group of Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) on a drive through Cavan Township to several birding hot spots and ending with a long walk along the Hogsback Trail near Omemee. The Great Egret was a highlight at the Omemee Pond, although it was a considerable distance away. I took a photograph of the Egret at full zoom on the Nikon P1000 and captured enough detail for ID. The Hogsback Trail proved most productive for Warblers and many other species of birds. I found my first attempt to take photographs of Warblers using my new camera to be most frustrating. These beautiful birds were moving constantly.
