The mound and burrow entrance seen in these photos belongs to the Bicolored Striped Sweat Bee. There are several Bees inhabiting this burrow which has a common entrance leading to multiple individual tunnels, one for each Bee and its larva. These Bees take turns guarding the entrance which has a diameter ranging from 4 to 6 mm. Bee length is about 10 mm. If there is damage to the mound, the Bees quickly repair it.
