20190908 PFN Wildlife Walk
Drew Monkman led the Sunday morning wildlife walk for the Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN). Conditions were cool and overcast. Twelve members worked diligently to find birds which were a bit scarce. Along the Promise Rock Nature Trail and nearby Rotary Rail Trail we found 13 species of birds highlighted by Northern Harrier, Gray Catbirds and American Redstart. Observing a Blue-spotted Salamander was a welcome find for the group. At the Lakefield Sewage Lagoons birding was a bit better with 17 species of birds including waterfowl and warblers. A nice surprise was a small green-coloured Gray Tree Frog perched on a Milkweed plant.
