20191020 WBFN Lake Ontario
Twelve members of the Willow Beach Field Naturalists (WBFN) led by Richard Pope and Margaret Bain went birding along Lake Ontario east of Cobourg. The outing was focused on Lake Ontario birds, especially gulls and waterfowl. Spotting scopes were an important tool and members were generous in sharing their scopes to others with just binoculars. Some of the Loons and waterfowl were a great distance off shore. Highlights included a few Bonaparte's Gulls along Cobourg Beach and a huge flock of ~2500 Red-breasted Mergansers flying over Lake Ontario.
