20221022 PFN Otonabee Gravel Pit
Ten members of the Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) were led by Steve Paul on a nature walk through an abandoned gravel pit. It has become well known as a birding hotspot and attracts several species of shorebirds. On this walk we observed Killdeers and a Pectoral Sandpiper among the 29 species of birds; thanks to Laurie Healey for maintaining an eBird list. There was plenty of evidence left by Beavers including trails, cut trees and a lodge. Two species of snakes were observed. The fall colours were beautiful.
