Ten members of the Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) joined outing leader Sue Paradisis for a traditional New Year's Day Walk. The walk was held at Camp Kawartha Environment Centre and Trent University Nature Trails. Kathryn Sheridan maintained an eBird list and Don McLeod pointed out tracks. Nine species of birds were counted with a White-throated Sparrow being the highlight. The orange patch and scat in the snow underneath thick Cedar canopy was identified as Ruffed Grouse. Tracks were found despite the poor snow conditions: Eastern Cottontail, Squirrel sp and White-tailed Deer.
